Revelation 1
Prologue
1The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
Greetings and doxology
4John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia:
Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 6and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. 7Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen.
8"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."
One like a Son of Man
9I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, 11which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."
12I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man,"dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
19"Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. 20The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

Reflection:

What a wonderful and difficult chapter to read. Revelation is important though to understand and be knowledgable to what is coming. The end is near, as it says at the opening of this chapter, so don't push off your studying of this chapter. First off let me make note to the color coding above. The number seven is VERY important in Revelation, seven represents wholeness and completion. To give you an idea of how often it is used I highlighted the text everytime seven was said. Remember seven is the number of the Lord, as six is the number of earthly men. I also highlighted some of the text purple, these where the sections that most deeply effected me personally, hopefully you can share in that connection. And last, but not least, I highlighted the scripture every time it spoke of God's right hand knowing that the right hand is the one God gives blessings with most often, the hand of power. When the right hand is placed on something it is being blessed. Just as Jesus sits at the right hand of his Father with power. With this being stated let me reflect on this scripture.

I think this chapter sets up the rest of the book. It informs us that John is writing what he was shown while on the island of Patmos. He was on this island for speaking the word of the Lord and not conforming to the earthly ruler of the land he was in. In Revelation the view skips back and forth quite frequently between Heaven and Earth. John had the pleasure of seeing it from both places. In this chapter it introduces us to how God came to John, and invited him to heaven. How beautiful is the vivid description of the Lord in verses 13-16. And I love verse 17 were it says that John fell at the Lords feet as though dead...how inspiring! God is so wonderful and powerful that John can not even look upon his face. But as John lay there humbly the Lord places a hand on him and blesses him. How giving is our Lord.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

It is in your grace that we are to come before you. In your loving forgiveness that we are to soon be with you in Heaven. And in your mercy that we can be your followers. Thank you Oh Lord for all that you give us. For the love we experience to the air that we breath to the one moon that we all over the world look upon together as you created us as one body of the Lord. Thank you God for this opportunity to learn your word and grow in it. You are the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega, the Living One. You are who was, and who is, and who is to come, you are my Father, my Lover, my Strength, and my Sheild. You are my all in all, now and forever! Lord, I pray that someday I will kiss your right hand while at your feet in awe. To worship you is to love you and how I long to worship you every minute of the day. Lord Jesus, give strength to your children so they may spread your word and live a life in accordence to your ways. Be with the poor and opressed, be with the sick and needy, be with those who do not know you as their Lord, and be with those who know you but do not know your will. Be with those going to bed tonight with empty stomaches, and those who long to be with their loved ones, and those who need someone to talk to, let them know that they can speak directly to you at any hour with any problem and let them feel your love and warmth and understanding. Fill the hearts of all the people in the world with your holy and perfect love I pray. In your name, I pray, Amen!

SPRING BREAK!

Just a short posting to thank you all for the prayers. Worship on thursday went VERY well....what a success! :) I'm on Spring Break this week though so you wont get anymore blogs till next week....unless my break sucks so much that I get bored and on this computer again! :) God bless you all, take care! <3~Tricha~<3

Revelation?

I was recently asked to lead worship this Thursday at my Community Women Bible Study. What an honor, I alone (or with God rather) will be leading 300 women in worship....wow! But to let you in on a secret, I am scared to death! I love to sing, I am becoming a teacher, so the crowd and the singing parts shouldn't be a problem...but they are! These women are some of the nicest people I have ever met, and I am honored beyond words that they are asking me to do this, but 300 people is alot, and just me on that stage, LEADING worship....whoa! I often considered going into the ministries, becomming a Rev. or a pastor or whatever you would call me....but teaching pulled me a little stronger (I must secretly have a desire to make practically no money at all :) ) I'm so worried...anyone have any words of wisdom?
Also, I am thinking about starting an online summary of Revelations, as inturpreted by me. That is a tough book to read, and to understand (alot of symbolism), but it is worth it, because it is the only book of the bible that says you will be blessed just for reading....it's an important one to know...."Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near!"

Lord, I admitt I am a sinner, I am guity Lord. Forgive me I beg, let me be with you and may you live in my heart and be reflected in my everyday actions. Give me strength Lord, because I am nothing without you. Give me patience and peace of mind, for all will be done as you so planned. Give me endurence, for the days seem so long, and the end is out of sight. Bless every minute of my day, so that I may use it to glorify your name! You are my truth! You are my light! You are my way! Double Posting

I don't know if you are suppose to limit yourself to one post per night but after reading someone else's blog this thought came to mind. When you are standing in God's presence, do you say guilty? or not guilty?
I'm not the kind of person who thinks I am perfect, so don't misunderstand me. I know I'm guitly of uncountable sins. I know all of the people I have hurt, and words I have spoken, and lies I have told. I know all of the pain I have caused in my own life, in the lives of others, as well as in God's heart. So am I guilty?
Or does my faith in Christ, my love for the Lord wipe my slate so clean that I am allowed to plead not guilty? Does God give me the right to say that I am innocent, because I have accepted him in my heart, and in my life? Any thoughts anyone?

Lord, I am so guilty of being a sinner, a liar,a cheater, but I am also huilty of being a lover, a follower, and a child of Christ. I don't know what the judgement day will bring me, but I know that I will see you in heaven, you will reward me for my everlasting faith and welcome me into your palace. I can not wait for that day O God. You are the reason I breath, the reason I live, the reason I go on. I love you. Be with me O Lord, and give me strength. In your holy name I pray, Amen.

Sinners part 1

It just came to my attention that some people think they sin more than the next person...I feel sorry for these people. EVERYONE in the world sins. There are different ways to sin, but they all bring shame to the Lord, big and small, public and private, they are all equally sinful in the eyes of the Lord. God does not look at you and say, well you know you sinned 37 times yesterday....but since I am suppose to forgive you I suppose I will....no, instead he says, you sinned, but since my son shed his blood for the forgiveness of your sins, you are forgiven. Inspite of your many sins God still loves you, He loved you before you sinned, He loved you while you were sinning, and He loves you after. Not to say that sinning is okay, and that it is not important to repent and turn away from your sins, but remember it is not only the repenters that God loves, for he loves every person. He shows no favor, he loves the sinner equal to the saint. He loves you, no matter what your sins may be, God loves you.

Lord, thank you for loving me. Thank you for the many chances you give me to do the right thing, and I am so sorry for all the times I don't do as you call for me to do. I am sorry for my sins, I am sorry for my disobedience, I am sorry for not listening to you. Please Lord, forgive me, make me whole, give me strength to walk the holy path you lay before me. Although the journey doesn't always prove to be the easiest one, it is the one you have planned for me. If I can not walk this path with my own best interest at heart, then let me walk it for you, knowing all you do for me, let me do this for you to praise your name. I love you Father. You are the one thing in my life that is always true, always strong, and always there. In your name I pray, Amen.
